Job Description:
Join our small business team at Scallop Shack Farms where you will wear many hats! You'll have the opportunity to showcase your passion for seafood while providing exceptional service to our valued customers. As the Prepared Foods/ Food Truck Chef, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and presentation for our brick and mortar/ mobile seafood service. You’ll play a key role in maintaining the quality and consistency of our offerings, ensuring customer satisfaction, and upholding Scallop Shack Farms' high standards of food safety and hygiene. We're seeking versatile individuals who are passionate about seafood, dedicated to excellence, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
Cooking & Food Preparation: Prepare and cook a variety of seafood dishes and more! Including chowders, dips, salads, and hot to order items.
Menu Development: Collaborate with the owner to develop new and exciting menu items based on seasonal availability of ingredients, customer preferences, and food trends.
Inventory & Stock Management: Oversee inventory, ensure proper food storage, order supplies, and maintain stock levels to meet demand.
Food Safety & Cleanliness: Ensure that all food safety guidelines are followed, and the food truck is maintained in a clean and safe manner. This includes cleaning all work spaces and dishes.
Customer Service: Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring they have a great dining experience.
Team Management: Supervise and train any kitchen staff or assistants, ensuring smooth kitchen operations during service.
Adaptability: Work in various weather conditions and environments as the food truck moves to different locations or events.
Collaboration: Work closely with the business owner to plan and execute events, promotions, and new menu ideas.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a chef or cook, preferably with a focus on seafood and/or food trucks.
Strong understanding of food safety, kitchen operations, and best practices for high-volume cooking.
Creative with a passion for developing new recipes and experimenting with fresh, local ingredients.
Excellent time management skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team.
Great communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid food safety certification and driver’s license (if required to drive the food truck).
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a food truck or mobile kitchen.
Knowledge of sustainable and local seafood sourcing.
Culinary degree or equivalent experience.
Familiarity with POS systems and handling cash transactions.
